Why NoteDock?

NotebookLM is powerful. But the browser-only experience holds you back. NoteDock removes the friction.

😩 Without NoteDock
Open browser → find tab → locate notebook → click upload → pick file… 15+ seconds every time
ePub, scanned PDFs, Office files? Not supported or require manual conversion
Large file uploads time out, fail silently, or lose formatting
All notebooks in one flat list — no folders, no grouping
Browser tab eating hundreds of MB of RAM, buried among other tabs
With NoteDock
Global hotkey → type or drop → send. 3 seconds, never leave your current app
ePub, DOCX, PPTX, XLSX, scanned PDFs, images with OCR — all accepted
Local AI preprocessing + smart chunking = bulletproof uploads
Folder organization — group notebooks by project, subject, or how your brain works
Menu bar native app — tiny memory footprint, always one click away

What shipped in NoteDock 2.1

This release centers on six upgrades: Sources Tab, Safari Extension, app-wide font zoom, full localization, faster account switching, and zero-trust privacy.

Sources Tab, Now Native.

For the first time, NoteDock opens a dedicated native panel to view, preview, copy, and move notebook sources without hopping back to the web UI.

Safari Extension for Instant Capture.

Click the toolbar in Safari and send the current page or link to NotebookLM in seconds. Same target picker, same local-first delivery, now with full Safari coverage.

Current page Any link Toolbar send

App-Wide Font Zoom.

Use Command+, Command-, and Command0 to scale text across native views and the embedded web panel. Keep everything readable on any display size.

Full Localization Coverage.

NoteDock 2.1 now ships complete UI localization for Traditional Chinese, Spanish, Japanese, and Korean, while keeping English as the default experience.

Faster, Safer Account Switching.

Account handoff and loading states were reworked to reduce stale state and click friction when you switch among multiple Google identities.

Zero-Trust Privacy.

No NoteDock server. No analytics. No telemetry. Your data moves only between your Mac and Google. Processing stays local, credentials live in Keychain, and the app ships inside Apple's sandbox.

How NoteDock Works

Three steps. Seconds, not minutes. No browser tab required.

1. Press Your Hotkey

Hit your custom keyboard shortcut from any application. A floating capture panel appears instantly, right where you need it. No browser, no context switch.

2. Add Your Content

Type a note, paste a URL, drag in files from Finder, or paste images from clipboard. Any format welcome — NoteDock handles conversion locally on your Mac.

3. Sent to NotebookLM

Pick your target notebook, hit send. Content is locally preprocessed, then uploaded as clean text. Large files are automatically chunked. Done in seconds.

Capture From Chrome and Safari. Process on Mac.

Use the free Chrome extension or the new Safari extension to bridge browser capture and your desktop pipeline. Everything still flows through your Mac: local processing, zero cloud relay.

One-Click Capture on Chrome or Safari

In Chrome, capture selected text or full pages from the extension popup. In Safari, click the toolbar button to send the current page or link. Either way, content lands in NotebookLM in seconds.

Batch Import on Chrome

Import all open browser tabs at once. Extract links from any web page. Pull entire YouTube playlists or RSS feed articles. Hours of manual work, done in one click.

Powered by Your Mac

Browser extensions talk to NoteDock on your Mac via a secure localhost connection. No cloud relay. Safari capture only reads the current page URL/title when you trigger send.

🧩 Chrome extension stays free and works with both Free and Pro plans. Safari extension is bundled with the Mac app and can be enabled in Safari Settings.

Your Data, Your Mac, Your Rules.

Logging into Google inside a third-party app — is it safe? That's exactly why NoteDock is built with a zero-trust, local-first architecture. We have no server. We can't see your data even if we wanted to.

Google Official Login

You sign in via a system-level WebView (WKWebView), the same engine behind Safari. The login page is Google's own — NoteDock never intercepts, injects, or proxies it. Your password is invisible to us.

All Processing On-Device

OCR, format conversion, text extraction — everything happens locally on your Mac. No server, no cloud, no data upload. Your content goes straight from your Mac to your Google NotebookLM account.

Keychain-Secured Credentials

Session cookies are stored in macOS Keychain — the same hardware-backed secure store used by Safari, Mail, and other Apple apps. Credentials never leave your device.

App Sandbox, Minimal Permissions

Runs inside Apple's App Sandbox with only network + user-selected files. No full disk access. No contacts. No location. Reviewed and distributed exclusively via the Mac App Store.

🔒 No NoteDock server exists. Your data only flows between your Mac and Google. That's not a feature — it's the architecture.
